THE HUSBAND AND HIS BRIDE
Jesus is not a poor man or a rich man, but a king who controls all the riches of the earth. He is a king known for holiness and justice.
The husband is the head of the wife and he is responsible for unconditional love towards the wife, and the wife must submit herself to the husband. (Eph. 5:22-23).
This unreserved submission of the wife to her husband encompasses love, faithfulness, genuine trust, obedience, sincere prayers, honestly, etc. The husband by virtue of being married to the wife becomes one with her, and that means the wife has no authority over herself anymore, if truly she has made the decision to be submissive.
The relationship that exists between a man and a woman is the same relationship that Jesus wanted us to have. We are all known as the bride of Jesus, and as the husband of a woman whom people admire because the wife is beautiful, or neatly dressed, so also Jesus wants to be appreciated and praises sung unto Him by people for the good character we exhibit and our righteous conduct.
They say that a woman shines in the glory of her husband. This goes a long way to say that however the husband is, it’s evidently seen in how the wife behaves and dresses. A poor husband will have a poorly dressed wife and a rich husband will have a richly dressed wife, Jesus is not a poor man or a rich man, but a king who controls all the riches of the earth. He is a king known for holiness and justice, and he has given us “his bride” the ability to be holy through his death on the cross.
Jesus obtained and gave us the grace to be a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto Him. (Rom. 12:1).
Without this step Jesus took, we wouldn’t have been in any way His own. We would have been wallowing in the oppression of the former husband – Satan.
We were like bride bound hands and legs and forcefully married to another man – Satan, who torments and maltreats us as a result of sin, but when Jesus went to the cross, he became the judge that gave the verdict to the husband who had held us bound and oppressed for long: “loose her and let her go” just as it was said to Lazarus in John. 11:446.
Conclusion
A man who is preparing to get married and does not have enough money will sell his most valuable possessions to ensure that he will get his money. to pay the expenses of the marriage. This is because he loves the woman and cannot wait to be with her. It is the same with Jesus. He wants us to be one with him and he gave us the most important thing he has, his life, as his bride. It cost him a lot. Therefore, as the bride of Jesus, we have the responsibility of being completely submissive and to his will. As a good husband, he showed us this unconditional love.
