KEEPING THE FIRST THING FIRST: LESSONS FROM MARY AND MARTHA

The story of Mary and Martha serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of keeping the first thing first in our lives. By prioritizing our relationship with God, we can avoid a victim mentality, take responsibility for our choices, and find fulfillment in aligning our actions with His will. Let us learn from Mary’s example and make intentional efforts to sit at Jesus’ feet, allowing His teachings to guide our lives.

JOY TO THE WORLD

Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ is more than a Christian holiday or a Christian festival. It is an opportunity to pause and give thanks for the love, hope, and joy found in Jesus – our Saviour and friend. As we exchange gifts with loved ones, it is out of remembrance of the gift God gave us in Jesus. The gift is that we are loved, are never alone, and can have hope for the future.

Marriage: Putting God First

Galatians 5:22 speaks of fruit of the spirit. Does your potential soul-mate exhibit these signs? Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness and faithfulness? I do believe that God can change the heart of any person, but is that person willing to be changed?

LOVE

Love so true; pure; overwhelming; unconditional and beautiful; love I have never experienced.

I was bitten, battered, broken, destroyed, hopeless, scared and had no place to run to. With a lost identity and dignity, filthy and as dirty as a pig, I roam the streets with nobody willing to help.

Then He came in His beautiful royal apparel and a charming smile. He stretched forth His hands and said to me: “Come! Come, I will give you rest.”

POSITIVE THINKING: INSPIRATION TO WIN

When you approach a problem with a positive attitude, you will be inspired to do all you know to do, while trusting God to do the heavy lifting that you cannot. A positive attitude will help you stay on top of negative circumstances, instead of letting them crush you.

SHATTERED BY SHAME

Surround yourself with positivity and understanding, letting go of the judgments and expectations that society imposes. Embrace self-care practices, nourishing your body, mind, and spirit as you navigate the path to healing and acceptance.

WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?

Showing gratitude has benefits or advantages both to the person showing appreciation and the person receiving it. Gratitude improves the well-being of the giver and the recipient. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, lower levels of depression, and build strong relationships. It allows people (the receiver) to feel that they are needed and that their efforts are valued.

DO NOT TALK TO THE DEAD

What does God say about speaking to the dead? In the book of Deuteronomy chapter 18 says “anyone who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord.” Ecclesiastes says “…the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Their love and their hate have already perished, and forever they have no more share in all that is done under the sun (see Ecclesiastes 9:5-6).  A person that ceases to exist in the early realm is no more and has no place and as the scripture’s states “no more share in all that is done under the sun.”
