HOW TO DISCOVER YOUR DESTINY AND PURPOSE

For you to discover who you are, know and understand He made a plan for you. It is to be found in Him so He could give you your purpose and destiny IN a recreated Spirit; He made you ALIVE in Christ. The Lord says, “Ask of Me and I will show you great and mighty things that you do not know (Jeremiah 33:3). You should never seek your life outside of Christ, everything is found in Him.

Many times, specifically at the beginning of the year, you will hear people say: What is my purpose and what is my destiny? I will keep it simple…Your purpose and destiny are found in Christ Jesus. I do not have a 12, 10, 5 step program to discover who you are and what you are called to do. All I know is everything you are, want to be or do is already in Christ Jesus. John 1:1-4 (ESV) tells us “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in darkness, and the darkness was not overcome it.” Now let us take a closer look…

Beginning – arche (Hebrew 746) beginning, corner, at the first, magistrate, power, principality, principle, rule, origin, the first by anything that begins the first place.

Word – Logos (Hebrew 3056) something said, including the thought, also reasoning, (the mental faculty), or motive; the sayings of God, decree, mandate, order, of the moral precepts of God.

All – (Oxford) – used to refer to the whole quantity or extent of a particular group or thing.

Everything of purpose and destiny has already been created for you in you. Romans 6:11 says Likewise, reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. In other words, you are alive to God, you have an unbroken relationship with the Creator of all things good and perfect. He tells us in James 1:5 if we lack wisdom, all we must do is ask God and He will give it to us bountifully. We are also told we are made alive, that is according to Strongs’ Concordance:

Zoopoieo (Greek 2227), give life, quicken; to produce alive; to cause to live, give life by spiritual power, to arouse to invigorate; to restore to life; to give increase of life.

You see before you were born again, your spirit was dead. It needed a super charge, to be revived, to receive an influx of power to live. That is where Jesus came in. They, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit knew, in order for you to live the life that God ordained since before the beginning of time, He would have to do something drastic. Something so powerful and earth shattering, that the promise of it would never change, but it would change the lives of BILLIONS! Now remember we are still talking about discovering your purpose and destiny. I am pointing you to the destiny maker, the purpose giver, your Creator. The plan to be reconciled back to Himself, included Him dying for you.

The bible says, all the earth is His and the fullness thereof (see 1 Corinthians 10:26). Again, my goal is to show you that what you are seeking is found in Christ. Now you may ask how do I discover what my purpose and destiny are? As we mentioned previously, ASK. Ask for wisdom and he will give it to you, freely (see James 1:5), Ask, seek, and knock and the door will be open to you (see Matthew 7:7). Abba Father, is a good father and if you ask for bread, He will not give you a stone. Matthew 7:9 says, “Or what man is there of you, if a son ask for a loaf of bread, will hand him a stone?” What kind of father would do that to a child? He also says, in Psalm 32:8 I (the Lord), will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. This verse is my personal passage for me. I would like for you to take your time and think about this scripture, meditate on it, and make it a part of your life. It is going to take a measure of faith, the faith you have already been given, like that of a mustard seed, to place your life in the hands of the one who gave it to you. Trust Him with your life, lean not unto your own understanding but acknowledge Him in all His ways and He shall direct your path (see Proverbs 3:5,6). Relying on the Lord definitely makes things a whole lot easier. I remember trying to find my way, and even now I may forget. However, I am grateful for the Holy Spirit, who leads and guides me into all truth, puts me back on the right path.

Begin with Intimacy – A desire and wanting to know who He is.

In order to get to that place of knowing about you, sttart with getting to know about Him, Jesus Christ. Psalm 100:4 tells us to enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. You have much to be grateful for. You are still breathing. You are alive. Every day you are breathing is an opportunity to change your life and to help change others. Once you have entered His courts with praise, continue to praise and the atmosphere with transition into worship, this is when you are focused on the Lord and who He is, not what He can do for you. Before entering, ask Him to renew a right spirit in you and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. If there is anything in you that is not like Him ask Him to reveal and to remove in Jesus’ name. Plead the blood of Jesus over yourself and continue to seek Him with all your heart, mind, and soul. As you wait on Him to speak, make sure you have your bible, journal, and a pen, because you want to be ready when He speaks. Make your request known through prayer and supplication. As you have prayed in faith, now wait. Psalm 46:10 says for us to be still and know that He is God. Close your eyes and think about Jesus, about the goodness of God, how good He has been to you. Think about the Holy Spirit and how He is your friend. Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on good things. The Lord will speak and share the wisdom that you seek. He could speak to you in regards to how you are doing. There is so much He wants to share with you, He just wants you to take the time to listen. I confess, I have been guilty of prayer pop ups. That is when you pray and pop up and go! Truthfully, is that cultivating a relationship with the One who took the time to carefully create you? The more time you spend in His presence the more you will want of Him.

Discovering your purpose and Destiny is found in Christ Jesus. You have the responsibility to get to know Him and His ways. The Lord longs to have a relationship with you, for you are His beautiful creation. Take the time to get to know Him and in Him you will find what you are searching for.

Be Encouraged and have Faith in God,
