DO NOT TALK TO THE DEAD
What does God say about speaking to the dead? In the book of Deuteronomy chapter 18 says “anyone who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord.” Ecclesiastes says “…the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Their love and their hate have already perished, and forever they have no more share in all that is done under the sun (see Ecclesiastes 9:5-6). A person that ceases to exist in the early realm is no more and has no place and as the scripture’s states “no more share in all that is done under the sun.”
“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27 NKJV).
This is simple and practical. Obey the Lord God Almighty. For now, is the time that He speaks clearly in your ears to understand His will and His ways.
Dead men do not speak. Nor do they hear or respond to your call. There are many religions that believe you can talk to the dead and even interact with them. Veneration of the dead, is the name given to speaking to dead ancestors and is believed to show love, respect and to receive special favors. Mediums, who are so named because they believe they can communicate with the dead (see bbc.co.uk). People of many different beliefs, race, age, and ethnicity believe that the ability to talk to the dead is real. It seems it may bring comfort to one who has lost a loved one, to carry on a familial tradition or attempt to speak with the dead to learn of secrets long past.
What does God say about speaking to the dead? So, who are people talking to when they consult with the dead? If it is appointed once to die, then the judgment, a dead person cannot be in two places at once. There are demonic entities that are influencing people daily. “Many were oppressed by devils, and he cast them out with a word and healed all who were sick (Matthew 8:16). Mediums, necromancers, and anyone who consults the dead is contacting demons. Matthew 10:7-9 tells us to heal the sick, cleanse the leper, raise the dead and to cast out demons. Satan comes as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), to deceive the body of Christ or anyone that will take the bait and listen to his lies. People believe they hear and see the dead because a “familiar” spirit, that is supposedly linked to the person who has died. If contacted by a medium, sorcerer, witch, or Ouija board, the spirit will tell you things that only the person would have known or even experienced, and because of these intimate details many people are fooled into believing that they are talking to their long lost relative. What if that person could “really” see who they are speaking to? I believe they would have second thoughts about speaking to the dead. The bible also says “many false christs and prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the most elect” (Matthew 24:24 NKJV).
Desiring wisdom, counsel and knowledge concerning a matter should come from a reputable source. The person we should speak to Holy spirit. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name (Jesus), he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14:26 NKJV). He is wisdom, all knowing and will lead and guide us into all truth and righteousness (see John 16:13). He will not deceive you nor pretend to be something that He is not. God does not add sorrows to His blessings. If you are seeking an answer, ask, seek, and knock on the one door that has all the answers. Jesus said “He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6).
In closing, once the spirit of man has left the body, it is no longer here. It is not waiting around for a bus ride or a ticket to paradise. It is okay to grieve, because they are no longer with you. God says not to consult the dead. If you need wisdom, ask the Holy Spirit, and wait for Him to respond. He truly has all the answers that you seek.
