Many persons all over the world have been limited because they are afraid. Afraid of what? Afraid of failing! The fear of being called a failure has kept many from revealing their potentials and bringing light to darkness. Their talents are locked inside because they think of what people will say if they fail.

There is a popular saying: whatever you are afraid of is actually afraid of you. How true is this? It is very true; maybe not in all situation but in most situations. Whatever you are afraid of, if you can be courageous enough to face them, you will discover that you have been afraid for long over something you could easily crush and defeat. When you keep allowing fear to direct your actions, then you will be very limited and doing little when God has created you to do mighty things.

Jesus said to his disciples “greater works shall ye do”. However, when you allow fear into your heart, you will do little works and that will not bring glory to God. Why? God is glorified when we bear much fruits but with fear, you bear few or no fruits at all.

I have had many times where I refused to take up a responsibility assigned to me because I was afraid that I will not do it right. By so doing, I brought shame to the organization. Hence, the best way I taught to avert it was to turn down the responsibility. That was a wrong choice!

Fear keeps you away from believing in yourself, believing in people and believing in God. It keeps you away from taking positive steps and makes you a mediocre. We are not called into mediocrity but excellence. God is an excellent God and so also is His children. The bible says: God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love, power and of a sound mind.

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of boldness not fear; so confront your fears with Him. Do not conclude when you have not started because of fear; don’t say it can never be possible when you have not tried. Take a step forward, leave your room and start with the little you have. God said in His word that a little shall become a thousand. How can this happen if you do not take bold steps.

What if my fears becomes reality? What if I fail? Then, dust yourself and try again; do it again, again and again until you win. It is not wrong to feel fear when faced with situations but, let God’s word guide you in taking the right actions amid your fears. God’s word is the word of/for boldness.

In conclusion, fear comes from the devil. It is the strategy he has employed to keep us from taking life-changing steps. The devil knows who you are, he knows you are light and when you shine, darkness disappears and so he brings fear to discourage you from shining. Will you let him win? No, you won’t. So approach those situations with boldness from God’s word, with the Holy Spirit and with the Christ in you and you will discover that all those things you fear, will become a plain and no longer an insurmountable mountain.
